Apple Juice is a treat on its own but even better mixed with other juices. Kids love apple lemonade and it's delicious with ginger, lemon and a variety of green juice.
It's the only fruit that mixes well with all types of vegetable juice, and I often use it in my Vegetable Juice Recipes to make them lovely and sweet.
Apples are one of the most heavily sprayed fruits so I like to use organic apples when I can.
Caution: Apple pips contain small amounts of cyanide. While you would need to eat an awful lot of apples to suffer any ill effects, I like to remove the apple cores when juicing - especially when making juice for children.
Here are some of my favourit juice recipes:
A family favorite!
This is a sweet tasty juice which my son loves. I like to add more carrots and celery, and sometimes ginger and lemon too.
A lovely apple juice recipe, and a great way to use windfalls in the autumn.
This apple juice recipe is surprising sweet and delicious considering just how green it is!
Tip: Centrifugal juicers don't really like juicing soft greens, so if this doesn't work I'd just miss the nettles out - apple and celery juice is lovely anyway.
Like the previous recipe this one works best in a masticating juicer.
You can also make it using a centrifugal juicer if you
juice the spinach in-between the apples and broccoli stems.
If you'd like to learn more about juicing then a great place to start is the book "Juice Guru: Transform your life by adding One Juice a Day" by Steve and Julie Prussack. It's an highly informative read and is packed full of well researched information and juices recipes.

The well known saying "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" may well be true! Apples are great in juices, but to make the most of their amazing cleansing and detoxifying properties eat them whole with their peel, and add them to smoothies and puddings too.
Their
skins contain anti-cancer chemicals, and beta-carotene. Unfortunately
the skins of apples often contain harmful pesticides so buy organic if
you can.

The nutritional value of apples:
A good source of Vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene, Vitamin C, vitamin K and folate, plus smaller amounts of Vitamin B1 (thiamine), B2, B3, biotin and Vitamin E.
Rich in potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium, plus smaller amounts of iron, manganese, copper, and zinc.
Apples contain many beneficial phytonutrients. Apple skins, and red onions, are rich in quercetin which is a powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-histamine.

Apples juice well in most juicers. Crisp apples make a lovely clear juice, while soft apples make cloudy juice. Their soft firm texture means they're easily shredded by centrifugal juicers and crushed by masticating juicers.
The main advantage of centrifugal juicers is their ability to make a lot of juice super fast, on the down side they can be noisy and the juice doesn't necessarily keep that well. Masticating juicers on the other hand are slower but make juice that keeps better and is said to be more nutritious. They are also nice and quiet. You get the best of both worlds when you juice with a wide mouth slow juicer such as the JR Ultra 8000 Juicer.
