Beetroot Juice vs Beet juice

Are beetroot juice and beet juice the same thing? It seems that the two terms are used interchangeably on various websites but I assume they are the exact same thing and there is no difference between the two.....could you please confirm this?

Beetroot Juice and Beet Juice
by: Amanda

Beetroot juice and Beet Juice are two names for exactly the same thing.

In the U.K. the ruby red root vegetable is known as a "beetroot" and it's juice is known as "beetroot juice".

While in other parts of the world (such as the U.S.A.) they are commonly called "beets" and their juice "beet juice".

Juice from a can of beets cheaper than beet root juice
by: Anonymous

At the health food store the beet root juice is $7 for 16 ounces. Wouldn't it be cheaper to open a can of beets and drink the juice?

Canned Beets vs Beet Juice (Canned Beetroot vs Beetroot Juice)
by: Amanda

Canned beets are cooked beets usually in water with a bit of sugar added. Link to a can of beets with ingredients. The water they come in does look like beet juice as the beetroot 'bleeds' into the water turning it red, but is a far cry from actual beet juice which contains most of the nutrients from the whole beet extracted into juice form.

With canned beets you need to eat the beets themselves to get the benefits.

You make fresh beetroot juice from raw beets.

Beet Juice Dry Powders?
by: Anonymous

Having tried Beet Juice = product touted as being produced from the JUICE of beets vs Beet Root Juice = made of the Beet Root or The Whole Beet.
I just purchased a bag of Beet Root Juice and I am sending it back, because:
1. it doesn't mix as well as the Juice Version. About 1/2 of the powder stays at the bottom of the shaker bottle so I have to continually shake the shaker bottle to incorporate the powder which accumulates at the bottom.
2 I find the taste rather Earthy not like the sweeter beet taste like the juice.
3. Also notice the color of the Juice Powder to be a deeper Red than the paler red color of the whole beet root powder.
These are just 1 juicer's opinion.

Beet Juice Taste
by: Linda

I bought some beet root juice for the health benefits but the taste (to me) is just terrible and I couldn't take more than a sip. I loved cooked beets and pickled beets so I was surprised that I found the juice so distasteful. Is juicing it yourself better or is it just an acquired taste? Does anyone add to it to make it taste better?

Beet Juice Recipes
by: Amanda

I find beetroot juice too strong and earthy on it's own and like it best with carrot and celery.

If you want is sweeter juice you can add carrot and/or apple as a base.

You can find a couple of my beet juice recipes here

I am concerned about cost, research, and complexity
by: Tom Bass

I am inerested in increasing my platelet count and have seen that many comments have mentioned that beetroot juice and/or beet juice can significantly increase my platelet count.
If it is that simple then I would like to try some. So, is this statement true and where would I buy it.

My name is George Bass.

I am 76 years old and my doctors never mentioned this to me?
