Sprouting Broccoli Seeds

by Theah

I currently sprout broccoli seeds in a quart sized Bell jar. I would like to learn to sprout them & then plant them in soil as I do Wheatgrass, Buckwheat, & Sunflower seeds. Is it the same process? I am greatful for any tips you may have. Thank you for your time, Theah

Yes, you can grow broccoli sprouts just like you grow wheatgrass.

I soak a couple of tablespoons of broccoli seed overnight in water and then spread them out on top of the soil. As the seed is so tiny it works best if the compost or soil you grow them on is even and fine. ie. Pick or sieve out any lumps.

Alternatively you can skip the soaking and spread them out dry onto damp soil and use a mister (spray bottle) to start them off.

Next cover them with a spare tray and they should be ready in 4 to 5 days depending on the temperature. Check daily and water gently with a spray bottle if required.

I will be adding a dedicated page with photos soon.

Happy sprouting,
