Storing a flat of wheatgrass

I purchased a flat of wheatgrass from the health food store. Do I need to keep this in the fridge? Or can I store the flat on the counter and cut and juice from there?

Storing Wheatgrass Flats
by: Amanda

I keep my wheatgrass flats out of the fridge on the counter, or on a windowsill out of direct sunlight. It's important to make sure the grass doesn't dry out.

If it's growing too fast then you could harvest it and keep it in an airtight container in the fridge.
It keeps best if the blades of grass are dry when you store them.

Harvest Wheatgrass

I stored the first flat I bought on the counter but it got moldy and yellow. I harvested the second flat I got and put the grass in the fridge in a ziploc and it seems to be better.

How to store wheatgrass flats
by: Local wheatgrass Toronto

We grow and harvest a good amount of wheatgrass flats, all naturally without any chemicals. Main thing is to keep the tray at the right temperature, room temperature on the cooler side, 20-25c and the soil lightly moist. Also make sure it has some air circulation. A small fan would be great, just to keep air moving at the root to soil interface.

You can maintain the cut wheatgrass inside a green bag for seven to 10 days, or even more.
